Pope Francis: Guardian angels do exist
Everyone has heard about Angel Gabriel from the Christmas story, but many people also believe there are scores more of these celestial beings who take care of the humans on earth on a day-to-day basis.
And it seems that Pope Francis is one of them, after he implored his congregation to seek theirs out whenever they are in need.
Speaking to a gathering at the Vatican to mark the feast of the guardian angels, the pontiff insisted guardian angels do exist and that people who listen to their advice are less likely to find themselves struggling with decisions.
"According to Church tradition we all have an angel with us, who protects us and helps us understand things," he commented.
Pope Francis urged everyone to ask themselves whether they are cultivating a good relationship with theirs, if they speak to him or her on a regular basis and ask them for protection while they sleep.
"No one journeys alone and no one should think that they are alone. It is dangerous to chase away our travelling companion," he commented.
Pope Benedict also spoke about angels back in 2011, saying humans are surrounded by their constant protection from the day they are born until the day they die.
You don't need to be Catholic or even religious to believe in angels, as we wrote about in our guide to the celestial beings recently. All you need to do is ask for their assistance and look for regular signs that they are with you.
For example, one celebrity believer is Gloria Hunniford, who recently wrote in the Daily Mail that she sees signs that her daughter is with her all the time.
Caron died of breast cancer ten years ago and the TV presenter explained that she frequently finds white feathers as she goes about her business – she had previously talked to her daughter about this being an indicator as to the presence of angels.
