Government hopes 'love nuggets' will keep couples together

Couples looking for ways to strengthen their relationship and stay together forever can get advice on how to do that from anew charity backed by £3 million of government money.

'Love Nuggets' are the brainchild of a new charity run by the Department for Education which celebrates 'things people do that make the foundations of a happy relationship', the website states.

There are various nuggets on the site and more are being added all the time. Among the suggestions is going for a long walk together, making each other a cup of tea, going to see a film that their partner may like but they may not be keen on and leaving loving notes around the house for their other half to find.

Other suggestions include making creative presents such as a compilation of photographs with a favourite song to go with them, women dressing to impress when out with their husband or boyfriend and men stroking their partner's hair until she falls asleep.

Visitors to the Love Nuggets website can also take advantage of the love nuggets generator, which will provide random suggestions for couples to consider.

Love Nuggets also points to scientific research exploring relationships and love, showing that features such as commitment, intimacy, emotional support and a deep understanding of each other's likes and dislikes are all common to healthy relationships.

"There is plenty of evidence to show that everyday acts of love can lead to a happier, healthier and stronger relationship, even more than big gestures like chocolates or expensive holidays," the site notes.

Penny Mansfield of OnePlusOne echoed this sentiment, telling the Daily Mail that many people tend to focus on the larger issues that arise in relationships and oftn neglect the smaller issues which can be just as important in the grand scheme of things.

Marcus Geduld, a man who for years struggled to get a date but is now 20 years into a relationship, told Quora recently that being friends with someone before dating and communicating constantly are just two of the things he attributes his happy marriage to.
