We like a good love story, here at PsychicsOnline, so we were delighted to hear about a local news reporter in Canada – who was shocked to find the story she had been covering was all part of a plan to get her to accept her boyfriend's marriage proposal.

Maryanne Firth, a reporter for the Welland Tribune, had first become interested in whether there was a story behind the number of giant pink hearts that had been appearing in the area.

However, she was unable to figure out the cryptic messages and turned to social media to help her find out more.

"The signs started showing up and they were hard not to notice around town. They were bright but it's so rare to see signs these days that don't deliver a direct message. It just started to bug me," Ms Firth told Yahoo.

Finally, she did think she was about to unlock the mystery when it became clear all was to be revealed at an event in a local park.

Hoping to find out more, she was surprised to be greeted by a man dressed in a suit with a box over his head and handing out flowers.

It quickly became clear that this was no ordinary story when the mystery figure took off his mask, revealing himself as Ms Firth's other half and popped the question.

Writing in the Tribune, the newly-engaged Ms Firth, explained her surprise: "This was the man who I've loved for the past eight years. Who I've built a life with. Ryan got down on one knee and as I tried unsuccessfully to hold back tears, he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him…Of course I was ecstatic."

Luckily, her boyfriend had invited lots of family and friends along to the park to take photos of the happy proposal so there were plenty of pictures to feature alongside the romantic tale.

For some it may be a rather extreme way of proposing but there is no doubt that an over-the-top show of emotion could be the right way to pop the very important question.

However, it may be worth consulting with a psychic and the spirits to discover the best time to make a proposal and ensure the answer is a clear yes.
